FWSQ Week 5

I hope you all have been having fun with these little blocks.

For number 6 I used 3" thangles. I made 8 and then joined 2 HSTs together to make the quarter square blocks.

This is our first tiny square block. These 1" HSTs are ridiculously cute.

I had a bit of trouble getting this one. Let me know how you go.

#11 has used 1.5" thangles.

Have fun ladies

ABC boys quilt BOM progress

So I have spent the day preparing all the remaining blocks for this delightful little quilt.

There is 14 left out of 30. But I figured the hard part is now done, so it is my goal to complete a block a day for the next fortnight to finish off this beauty.

I do like to get all the prep done no matter what project I am working on at the beginning.

So here's Sunday's block, check!

And of course because it's Sunday, it's yoga day and I thought I'd share my lnew mat bag I finished this week. It has an internal divider to keep my mat rolled and then has HEAPS of storage on the other side for towels, drink bottles, keys, wallet, yoga blocks and straps too!!

This is the link to the free pattern for this yoga bag. A great weekend sewing project.

Gum Drop mania

Everyone has gone a little gummy this month. In a really great way. We have been busy making Amy Butlers beautiful Gum Drop pillows. These are great for lazing around and kicking back.

The pattern is available in store or by mail order. And comes with two different sized Gum Drops.

Here are some that we have made and a lot that our class ladies have made over the last few weeks. Enjoy

Saturday Sewing and Sore legs

Hi everyone.

Hopefully the weather is nice where you are, here it is hot and far too hot to do much outdoors.

So I resolved to spend my day indoors. First up I overcame my fear and went to the gym for the first time ever this morning. It wasn't that scary (once I got to the end) but taking that first step is always hard when we try new things. Wether it was the gym for me today or your first sewing class.

We have lots of people who pop in and get the information so many times before they get the courage to come along to their first sewing class. I always tell them we arnt scary and the ladies are wonderful and supportive but for some reason it takes ages for our newbies to get here, but once they do, there's no looking back.

I never had this problem with sewing classes because I have the best Mum ever and she runs the show. I'm not even nervous about going to my first quilters camp in a couple months because she is coming too. And it's always easier to face our fears with a friend.

But whatever fear it is that keeps you from coming along, I challenge you to face that fear and make that first step. If you need to, bring a friend, bring your lucky rabbit foot or hey, you could always bring a cake, that's a great ice breaker!

We run classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9:30 and also Friday mornings from 10-12:30. It is $15 for the 2.5hrs and there's always a cup of tea (coffee if you prefer) and a yummy treat too.

I have been sewing for about 18 years and have been working at the Cobar Quilt Shop since it opened almost 9 years ago and coming along to the class nights is a favourite of mine.

So after a beautiful lunch at my brothers house I have come home feeling  like I can achieve anything today (except squats, that I can't do. My legs are Super Sore!) and this is what I have achieved....

They might be the easiest blocks in the whole quilt but I beat my quota by 2! ;-)

New BOM progress

Since I told myself I wasn't allowed to see anymore Farmers Wife blocks until I progressed a little further on this quilt, I spent a few hours in my sewing room and got another 4 done this evening. I haven't forgotten that I set my goal at 6 blocks and will be getting stuck into another 2 tomorrow.

Isn't it funny how we have so my work in progress projects and we pick our favourite for that day. I love having a few projects on the go. What are you working on at the moment? Or are you like me and have several?

New BOM progress

So I haven't been as busy with this ABC boys quilt Block Of the Month as I would have liked. That farmers wife quilt is a little all consuming with how addictive it is. Yet here I am with a couple more done and dusted and I am determined to not do ANY more farmers wife until I have another 6 of these delightful blocks done. Deal? DEAL!

I hope you love these cute little blocks as much as me. Don't forget this BOM program is available now.
